"Busker Soundcheck started playing around Chicago in 1990. At the time, we looked up to regional bands like Poster Children, Goober and the Peas, Didjits, Babes in Toyland, Smashing Pumpkins, and Material Issue because they were out there touring and putting out records and tapes. Our first tour was booked from the back of a Husker Du t-shirt (the cities and clubs).
We had grown up playing music by the Scorpions, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden in garages across the southside of Chicago and suburbia, because that's what some of our friends and older brothers did.  As a new band, we were more interested in music of the "new" generation of rock - The Smiths, Husker Du, Replacements and REM - and had absolutely no interest in late 80's early 90's "hair-pop-metal".  Early Busker sets ranged from Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" and Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" to the Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" by the Cure and REM's "Pretty Persuasion"  - with Busker originals "Your Very Own Flag", "Ready For The Fall", "Leather Jacket" and "Diamond" thrown in."
